  • We Are Hiring: Director of Facilities & Transportation

    Position Summary

    The Director of Facilities and Transportation is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and operation of all school district buildings, grounds, and transportation services. This position ensures that district facilities are well maintained and that transportation services operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all state and federal regulations.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who takes pride in maintaining quality facilities and supporting students through safe transportation. The position offers the ability to make a meaningful impact on the daily operations of the school district while working in a supportive school community.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Facilities and Maintenance

    • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of all district facilities and grounds.
       

    • Maintain and supervise the operation of two school buildings, four district-owned houses, the bus barn, and all associated grounds.
       

    • Supervise and coordinate the work of custodial and maintenance staff.
       

    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for facilities and equipment.
       

    • Coordinate building repairs, renovations, and contracted services as needed.
       

    • Ensure facilities meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
       

    • Monitor facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other infrastructure.
       

    • Manage snow removal, groundskeeping, and seasonal facility needs.
       

    Transportation Management

    • Oversee the daily operation of the district’s transportation program.
       

    • Coordinate and schedule bus drivers for daily routes, activities, and special events.
       

    • Adjust and optimize bus routes as needed to maintain efficiency and safety.
       

    • Maintain driver records and documentation to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
       

    • Oversee maintenance and upkeep of the district transportation fleet.
       

    • Coordinate bus inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
       

    • Ensure transportation operations meet state and federal safety standards.
       

    Leadership and Administration

    • Supervise and evaluate custodial and transportation staff.
       

    • Assist in hiring, training, and scheduling transportation and maintenance personnel.
       

    • Maintain accurate records related to facilities, fleet maintenance, and driver certifications.
       

    • Communicate regularly with administration regarding facility needs and transportation operations.
       

    • Assist with developing budgets and monitoring expenditures related to facilities and transportation.
       

    Safety and Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal transportation and safety regulations.
       

    • Maintain required documentation for driver licensing, training, and certifications.
       

    • Implement and oversee safety procedures for facilities and transportation operations.
       

    • Assist with emergency preparedness and response related to district facilities and transportation.
       

    Qualifications

    • Experience in facilities maintenance, transportation management, or a related field preferred.
       

    • Knowledge of building maintenance systems and preventative maintenance practices.
       

    • Familiarity with school transportation regulations and fleet management.
       

    • Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required (with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement).
       

    • Strong organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
       

    • Ability to coordinate schedules and manage multiple responsibilities.
