Ory Johnson Named Nebraska National Geographic State Bee Semifinalist
The National Geographic Society has named Ory Johnson, a sixth grade student at Hayes Center Elementary School, as a semifinalist in the Nebraska National Geographic State Bee. The contest will be held on Friday, March 31st, 2017 at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
This is the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition, which is now in its 29th year. School Bees were held in schools with fourth through eighth grade students from all schools participating. School champions took a qualifying test that was submitted to the National Geographic Society. The Society invited up to 100 of the top-scoring students in each state to compete at the state level. Champions from each state will represent their state in the National Geographic Society Bee Championship in Washington, D.C. on May 14-17. We congratulate Ory and wish him good luck on March 31st.
